Siri is one of the most popular AI assistants in the world, but is often made fun of when compared to other AI assistants such as Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.

When comparing AI assistants, several factors are considered to determine their intelligence. In terms of the response time to questions, google assistant is the best, followed by Siri and Alexa. Google Assistant and Siri top the list with voice recognition.

We cannot say that Siri is unintelligent compared to other AI assistants because of the difference in various aspects of their operations. Many AI measures up in many different factors they use to operate, making them intelligent in a particular area. This, however, doesn’t make one more superior than the other.

In this article, we will look at some of the vital comparison areas among different AI assistants. With that information, we will be able to determine which is the best for use and if Siri is unintelligent compared to other AI assistants.

Why Does Siri Seem So Dumb?

Siri may seem dumb when it comes to finding documents that are almost a duplicate to each other. For example, if you have pictures taken for a long time running, if you ask Siri to look up pictures of you from yesterday, you’ll notice it mixing up with those from the past. Or if you ask it to show images taken from a specific city, it will also mix them up.

Comprehending what’s asked is also another big challenge for Siri. If you request it, for example, who’s Sam? Instead of telling you who the person is, Siri will look up their contact card.

Additionally, if you have duplicate documents on the phone, you will expect that whenever you ask for one that Siri should give you the most recent one or maybe the most frequently used one. This is a shortcoming that Siri has. It will not give you that.

Yes, Siri can usually make a phone call or send a text message. It can display sports scores, Yelp restaurant reviews, and movie timings, all of which Apple added years ago. And it should be noted that all of its competitors have limitations and make blunders.

However, in its current form, Siri is too limited and untrustworthy to be an effective weapon for Apple in the subsequent AI warfare. It appears to be at a standstill.

Even with its flaws, Siri on iOS and macOS can now be an accurate accessibility tool for persons with motor delays. Where Siri concerns, in my opinion, is how useful it is for folks who have speech impediments.

If Apple is a long-term player in the AI game, it must find a means to ensure that stutterers are not left behind. It’s challenging to get a robot to grasp even regular speech patterns.

Is Siri Unintelligent Compared To Other AI Assistants?

Because of differences in many functioning elements, we cannot genuinely state that Siri is dumb compared to other AI assistants.

Many AI measures up in many distinct aspects of operation, making them intelligent in a particular domain. This, however, does not make one superior to the other.

This post will examine some of the most important areas of comparison between different AI assistants. With such knowledge, we will be able to establish which of them is the most useful and whether Siri is truly dumb compared to other AI assistants.

Voice Accuracy and Speed

While all principal voice assistants have excellent speech recognition capabilities, Siri and Google Assistant have better understanding abilities, even in noisy environments. They also work just as great when passing information to the user.

Cortana, according to Microsoft, understands context well. However, both Alexa and Microsoft have a hard time hearing what you say. When employing the last two, it is better to use them in quiet locations, since noisy environments (background noise) make it hard for them to understand what you need them to do.

Google Assistant takes the lead in query response time, regularly offering quick responses to orders. Alexa and Siri follow while Cortana is the last. There have been several reports of people having challenges when using Cortana, especially when making even the most basic requests.

Such challenges happen even if there are no issues with both the speaker and the microphone. This makes it hard to quantify the time of response and find out whether or not commands have been understood.

When the alternative digital assistants pick up the instruction, Siri frequently outperforms Alexa. However, this is very dependent on what you ask of these assistants and how best you know their command options.

So, in terms of speech recognition, Google Assistant and Siri are the winners. Nonetheless, Google Assistant still takes the lead for rapid query response time.

Features and Capabilities

Regardless of the virtual assistant you fancy,  understand that they all do the same job. Some of the functions they perform include; making phone calls, scheduling events, setting alarms, handling correspondence, and even listening to music.

Even then, all these AI assistants have their own unique way of accomplishing these tasks.

Cortana searches and responds to information inquiries with the help of Bing, an invention of Microsoft.

On the other hand, Google Assistant and `Siri use Google. Siri goes further to give you additional information about your queries. For example, if you ask Siri to point out nearby places to eat, it will go ahead and offer suggestions on how best to make reservations. If you know where you want to eat, any of the three can make a reservation or place an order for you.

You will find Google Assistant valuable if you are an avid user of Google, the company tends to save and remember your search history and, therefore, is relatively easy to customize.

For instance, the Google Duplex has a natural voice mechanism that promises seamless and effortless communication with your Google Assistant. This also covers communication between Google and other AI assistants.

If you need to make Amazon orders, then Alexa may be your best bet. However, it is a bit complex to master, and you may need a user manual to use it.

It’s a close call, but Google Assistant wins the features and capabilities category by outperforming the competition regarding simplicity of use, customization, and natural dialogue.

Ecosystem Integration

The technology and platforms on which the primary virtual assistants can be integrated are arguably the most significant differences.

Siri may function effectively with Home Pod speakers, Air Pod headphones, and devices such as the iPad and iPhone. Still, you won’t be able to access it on your Android mobile or Windows PC.

On the other hand, Google Assistant was developed for the iOS systems and Android.

Luckily, with several tweaks here and there, it may work with other software such as Linux and Windows.

Google Assistant also works well with Chromecast and Google Home smart speakers. Interestingly, this assistant is also being upgraded to be compatible with Chrome OS Devices.

How Can Siri Get Better?

Here is how to make Siri better:

  • Making it better in contextual awareness

Siri would be a more potent tool if she could better understand your requirements throughout the day.

Siri should be able to tell if you’re at home, on the road, or at work based on the position of your phone. She should be conscious of the time of day as well.

With those two pieces of information merged, she should provide more relevant calendar information, news, or music to the circumstance at hand.

  • Options for customizability and personalization

Siri would be immensely improved if users could provide her with additional personal information for her responses to be more accurate and relevant.

Perhaps Apple could allow consumers to personalize their Siri experience by platform or introduce a new personalization section where you can opt in or out of certain functionalities.

Conclusion

When it comes to AIs, most of them do good work. Some interact better with humans than others. Siri is one of the best AI assistants available in the world of tech.

Despite its shortcomings, it still does a good job. Google assistants may be superior in terms of data personalization and response time; this, however, doesn’t make Siri so much unintelligent.
