T-Mobile is one of the top cell phone providers in the world, but that doesn’t mean its customers don’t have some problems. One of the biggest issues they report is that they can’t get verification texts. This often happens for a few reasons that you can take care of without visiting a T-Mobile store.

What is a Verification Text?

A verification text is a text you receive that verifies your name and number. Google often uses verification texts when you forget your Gmail password or you sign in from a new device. You get a text that includes a verification code, which you then enter online.

Instagram and Facebook both use these texts. A common scam happens when someone claims they need to send you a text and have you give them a code. They claim they use it to verify your identity but actually use it to steal your account.

Why Can’t I Get Verification Texts?

As verification texts are so important, it’s often frustrating when you enter your number and don’t get one. Make sure that you consider all of the reasons why these texts don’t reach your T-Mobile phone .

  1. You used the wrong phone number or email address.
  2. The text puts you over your limit for the month/billing cycle.
  3. You turned off notifications.
  4. T-Mobile blocked the text message.
  5. You can’t use short codes on your phone.
  6. Your phone blocked the message.
  7. You have a bad connection
  8. T-Mobile blocked digit or short codes.
  9. The site blocked your number because you requested too many texts in a short period.
  10. Your plan does not include texting.

How to Get Verification Texts

Make sure that you wait a few minutes before you freak out about not getting a text message. Some websites take a long time to message you. You should not worry until an hour passes because it may take longer than you think for the message to arrive.

Go back to the website and look at the info you entered. Make sure that you didn’t make any mistakes. Even if you simply forgot a letter in your email address or swapped two numbers in your phone number, you won’t get the message.

You can then look at whether T-Mobile blocked the message. This often happens when you report a number as spam. T-Mobile may block some messages because other customers reported the senders, too.

Call the company or stop by a local store and ask them if they blocked the number. If they did, they can usually remove the block on the spot.

All cell phones today allow you to block numbers. When someone keeps calling you from the same number, you can click on the number and add it to your blocked list in seconds.

Whether they call or send text messages, they will not come through to your phone. Open your Settings and select Messages and then Blocked to view all of the numbers on your blocked list. If the number that sends your verification text appears on that list, you can remove it.

Though not as common, you may not get a verification text because you have a poor or bad internet connection.

This is usually a bigger problem with verification emails because you cannot check your email before the code expires. Many sites that send these messages delete them after 60 minutes to 24 hours. If you try to use the code after the deadline, the site won’t recognize it.

Another thing to consider is that you requested too many verification texts. Have you ever requested a code and then asked for another one because the first one never came?

Most sites limit you to just a few requests every day. If you keep asking for a new code, the site will block you temporarily and ask you to try again later. You usually need to wait at least 24 hours before you request a new verification text.

T-Mobile received enough customer complaints that the company responded to help them understand why they didn’t get their verification texts. It can happen because of the plan you picked. You cannot get verification texts if you have a plan that does not include texting.

Even though most plans include this feature today, you may have a prepaid plan that limits you to a certain number of texts per billing cycle.

If you used all of your texts for this cycle already, you cannot get any more until the next cycle starts. T-Mobile may also let you pay extra to get more texts.

Don’t forget to check the notifications on your phone, either. If you turned off notifications, your phone may not send any text messages until you turn on this feature again.

While in your Settings, make sure you turn off Airplane Mode, too. Airplane mode turns off some features and usually blocks all text messages.

Whether you have an Android or an iPhone, you may miss some texts because T-Mobile blocked short codes on your phone.

These codes allow you to enter a series of numbers and access different features. It’s similar to the old DIGITS system the company used in the past.

When you cannot use shortcodes, you will also find that you can’t get codes sent to your phone. Getting in touch with T-Mobile is the only way to fix this. You can talk to a company rep over the phone or visit the nearest store and ask them to remove this feature from your phone.

Conclusion

Verification text messages and codes are a must in today’s world because so many sites use these codes to verify your identity. As a T-Mobile user, you may not get all of the texts you should. Try some possible solutions to this problem and then get in touch with T-Mobile.
