Do you feel annoyed with some hidden advertisements on your computer? Such as your computer, itself, automatically redirects you to a strange website or even open a new site in your web browser. That’s signs of adware.

Adware usually comes with free software (freeware), implemented into it by the developer, to recover development costs or with specific purposes. It can be designed to collect users’ data and behaviors, and then send back to the author to deliver ads based on the information.

What Is Adware?

It’s a common name, which used to describe programs that designed to show advertisements on your computer or any other devices. It will redirect your search requests to specific websites and collect marketing data.

Adware is considered a legitimate kind of advertisements. It collects marketing data with your permission. But if it does not notify you that it’s gathering information, it acts like a malicious program, a malware that uses Trojan-Spy behavior.

How Adware Can Impact You?

Besides collecting data and displaying advertisements, there is no indication of adware in your program menu. Also, there is no sign in your computer’s system tray or even in the program list.

Adware applications are usually installed on your PC by two ways:

  • Through freeware/shareware.
  • Infected websites that will automatically install the adware on your PC.

When you stop use the freeware and uninstall it from your device, the adware should be disappeared. However, after uninstalling the software, the advertisements are still showed. That’s time you need an adware removal tool to scan and clean up your computer, deleted all types of hidden adware programs.

I don’t understand, why do Antivirus programs like Bitdefender bother to create an Adware removal tool when their main Antivirus has that feature included?

I think because their adware removal tool is free to everyone. You can easily download and use it without a license.

  11. Ute Reinhard says:

Am I the only one who thinks that installing an Adware removal is kind off stupid? It is too much work to install a tool for each kind of malware and update each one of it, installing an application that can cover everything seems like a better idea to me.

    1. Anja Weissmuller says:

If you need to remove all kinds of Malware then yes, installing a removal programs for each category will be tedious work. But not everyone needs protection from all kinds of Malware, if all I need to remove is adware, then I’ll get an adware removal, no need to spend money on a full Anti-Malware program. But yes, if you need protection from all kinds of malware it will be better to get an Anti-Malware which can do that job.

  12. Sophia Hertzog says:

But MalwareFox is not an Adware removal tool 😛

    1. Kristin Schiffer says:

MalwareFox is an all purpose Anti-Malware, which means that it can also serve as an Adware removal.

      1. Burkett Bois says:

Sorry for my ignorance but what else is an all purpose Anti-Malware supposed to remove apart from Adware and such?
