The 1440 x 900 screen resolution is certainly not the best choice for gaming. However, you can still go for it if you’re on a low budget and need something to get started. The 1440 x 900 is pretty close to HD; I’ll recommend that you try opting for Full HD (1080p) for the best gaming experience.

What resolution do most gamers use?
Unlike in the past, gamers now make use of several different screen resolutions. I’ll be sharing with you the list of some of the common resolutions used by gamers. However, before going into that, let me start by talking about what game resolutions are and why they matter.
What is game resolution?
Starting with the definition; I’ll say that game resolution is simply the visual ability of a monitor to display a set amount of pixels. Screen resolutions are measured in pixels. Furthermore, they offer tons of benefits; one of them is that you can use them to determine your monitor’s screen size.
Another thing you need to understand about having a good resolution is that it plays an important role in how well your videos are displayed on the screen. Yes, the higher your screen resolution’s pixels, the clearer and sharper the images you’ll get on your screen.
Here’s the list of the best resolution for gamers
When it comes to playing your favorite games and achieving the best gaming experience, one thing you need to keep in mind is that you need a resolution with high pixels. The 1920 x 1080 resolution, also known as Full HD or full screen, is one of the best screen resolutions that you can rely on.
Apart from that, other gaming resolutions include 2560 x 1440, 3840 x 2160, and 7680 × 4320. Let’s take a look at each of them below:
1920 x 1080 FHD (Full HD or 1080p)
The 1920 x 1080 screen resolution, also called Full HD or 1080p, is one of the best gaming resolutions out there. 1080p has been around for many years; matter of fact, it’s the most commonly used resolution in the United States and several countries across the globe.
For those who don’t know, 1920 x 1080 means that the screen has a width of 1920 pixels and a height of 1080 pixels. Altogether, the screen has a total of 2,073,600 pixels on-screen, which is very impressive. One interesting thing about this resolution is that it delivers a clear and concise visual.
2560 x 1440 QHD (Quad HD or 2k 1440p)
Occupying the second spot on this list is the 2560 x 1440 gaming screen resolution. Also known as Quad HD (QHD) or 2k 1440p, this resolution is a little bit higher than the industry standard, which is 1080p.
The 2560 x 1440 screen resolution has a width of 2560 and a height of 1440. In total, the resolution delivers 3,686,400 pixels on-screen; this is powerful enough to deliver impressive visuals. You’ll surely achieve the best gaming experience with this resolution.
3840 x 2160 UHD (Ultra HD or 4K 2160p)
The next gaming screen resolution on this list is 3840 x 2160 resolution. This screen resolution is also known as the Ultra HD (UHD) or 4K 2160p. The 4k monitor was released in 2013 and ever since that time, gamers have been taking advantage of it to achieve a better gaming experience.
With a total of 8,294,400 pixels on-screen, you’ll certainly agree with me that gaming at 4k is outstanding. I’ll recommend that you go for this resolution if you’re the type that plays several video games that require an extra visual punch. The only setback, however, of investing in this resolution, is that it’s expensive to purchase.
7680 × 4320 FUHD (Full Ultra HD or 8K 4320p)
The 7680 x 4320 screen resolution is also known as 8k 4320p or full ultra HD. This resolution has a screen width of 7,680, a height of 4,320, and a total of 33,177,600 pixels on-screen. 8k 4320p is four times the number of pixels as 4K 2160p and 16 times that of full HD, 1080p screen resolution.
Furthermore, the 7680 x 4320 screen resolution provides excellent color accuracy and great sharp images. However, you need to understand that investing in this type of monitor will take thousands of dollars from your pocket.
Is 1440 x 900 resolution good for gaming?
You must have noticed that I didn’t mention the 1440 x 900 screen resolution in the previous section of this post. With that, it’s safe to say that this resolution isn’t the best you can choose for your gaming activities.
According to gaming experts, the 1920 x 1080 or 1080p or Full HD screen resolution is the industry standard for gaming. Unfortunately, the 1440 x 900 resolution isn’t capable of delivering this type of quality.
As you already know, the 1920 x 1080 resolution delivers a total of 2,073,600 pixels on-screen. As for the 1440 x 900 screen resolution; it only has a width of 1440 and a height of 900 and a total of 1,296,000 pixels on-screen. This explains why it’s not an excellent choice to achieve a better gaming experience, as it’s not up to the industry standard.
But does that mean the 1440 x 900 screen resolution is not, in any way, good for gaming?
Of course, you can still make use of 1440 x 900 screen resolution for gaming. No doubt, the resolution might not deliver the best results when compared to 1080p and other higher-pixel screens. However, you can always make use of it as a budget-friendly option.
The 1440 x 900 resolution is slightly higher than the 720p or HD resolution. If you don’t have the best graphics card, this resolution will certainly make a lot of sense to you. This explains why you may consider the 1440 x 900 resolution for your gaming activities.
The bottom line is that the 1440 x 900 resolution isn’t one of the best resolutions for gamers. The only time I’ll recommend you to use it for your gaming activities is if you’re looking for budget-friendly alternatives.
Is 1440 x 900 better than 1080p?
The 1080p screen resolution is the standard for gaming. It comes with a width of 1920 and a height of 1080. Overall, the screen is capable of delivering a total of 2,073,600 pixels on-screen.
That said, the 1080p resolution is way better than the 1440 x 900 screen. It’s pretty simple; the latter can only deliver a total of 1,296,000 pixels on-screen, which doesn’t meet that of the 1080p screen. With that, it means there are about 60% more pixels in 1920×1080 compared to that of the 1440 x 900 screen resolution.
With 1080p or full HD, you’ll enjoy sharp, clear, and concise visuals compared to the 1440 x 900 resolution. In addition to this, the Full HD resolution is a better choice than the 1440 x 900 resolution for gaming.
